Ledger, a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to cryptocurrencies, has added a Bank of England economist and researcher to its editorial board.
The board member, Dr Michael Kumhof, is senior research advisor in the new Research Hub of the Bank of England, where he co-leads and helps to formulate the research agenda.
His research interests primarily include monetary reform (including digital currencies), the role of banks in the macroeconomy and the role of economic inequality in causing imbalances and crises.
Prior to his position with the Bank of England, he served as deputy division chief in the Modeling Division of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) .
His published work has appeared in a number of journals, including AER, JME, AEJ Macro, JIE, JEDC, JMCB, EER, and the Journal of Macroeconomics.
Ledger became the first ever peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to cryptocurrencies when it launched back in September 2015 .
Formed via a partnership between the University of Pittsburgh, MIT Media Lab and Coin Center (which partly funded the project), Ledger aims to help mature academic research in the field of cryptocurrencies.
